For today, the Fashion Friday Blog post has been changed up to #OOTN (outfit of the night) since most people do not wear long dresses during the day, full disclosure it really is a #WIW (what I wore) #OOTN to the NAC Gala last weekend………which was a Fundraising Gala for the National Youth and Education Trust, in support of the NAC’s arts education programs across Canada.

Finished now with the #’s and on to what I wore as my outfit of the night!

I have attended this gala previously and the dress code is “Black Tie” however many people interpret dress code’s differently so in reality,  there was everything from Smart Casual, Semi-Formal (Cocktail),up to and including Black Tie . I would say that the majority of women wore cocktail dresses. When Simons opened in the Rideau Centre this fall, I found a Elisa C Rossow, Canadian Designer, long black sleeveless Ponte jersey knit

dress with a subtle, high-low hemline. I tried it on, loved it, and purchased it .  To justify my purchase I considered the following. The style line is classic, the Ponte knit is forgiving, camouflaging, comfortable and an added bonus, it has pockets! This dress allows you to dress it up or down, “Sleevey Wonders”can be worn underneath (discussed in this blog post), therefore I envisioned several “looks” that this dress would offer. I also took into consideration the  CPW*  and now this dress met my  purchasing criteria. I styled the dress less formal since I anticipated the dress code would be leaning towards semi-formal. Therefore by adding bolder jewelry (earrings and bangle bracelets), mesh sleeves, a statement belt and simple black pumps the formality of the dress was broken down and created a less formal visual.

*Cost Per Wearing is the Price of the Item divided by the number of times worn
