Farewell to the Eye Lash curler and hello to a Lash Lift. A fabulous beauty trend that is growing in popularity is an Eye Lash Lift. Working with your natural lashes a lash lift is a semi-permanent lash curling. This is unlike the traditional perming system of wrapping lashes around a sponge rod, which can cause the lashes to over-curl and look short and stubby. Instead, Lash Lift uses different sizes of silicone pads and each lash is “lifted” individually, creating a perfect curl for your lash length. With lifted lashes, your eyes immediately open up and lashes appear fuller and longer. Tinting of your lashes will also enhance your results and is recommended. The treatment is about an hour with results lasting 4-6 weeks.
For those who follow this blog, you know that I am a fan of eyelash extensions (discussed in this blog ). I have been wearing extensions for several years and really enjoying the results. From time to time it is necessary to give your lashes a break and let them rejuvenate and grow. This is not my favorite time especially when you are used to having fabulous lashes all the time. So when I and my lash technician Eileen, of Nails by Eileen decided it was “break time” she introduced me to the concept of a Lash Lift. She explained that this would be a suitable alternative while waiting for my natural lashes to grow and perhaps I may even like the results so much that I may consider doing lash lifts more and lash extensions less. I was skeptical but decided that it was worth a try especially after seeing several before and after pictures.
About 8 weeks ago I had my first Lash Lift and now I am eagerly awaiting my next lift. This process and the results vary from person to person and are different from lash extensions. The Lash Lift result is much more natural and subtle therefore this helps explain my initial skepticism. It is also important to mention that my lashes were somewhat shorter and more sparse due to the extensive use of extensions, hence why a break is necessary from time to time (yes, they grow back!). Well now after these past 8 weeks, I have to tell you I am a fan of Lash Lifts for these reasons:
-No maintenance …easy easy easy
-Pain-free and NO damage to your natural lashes
-I am enjoying the more natural look (also a huge trend the “no” make-up look)
-Less time-consuming. The process takes max. an hour & can last up to 6 weeks (for me it was over 6 weeks)
-Less expensive than lash extensions (see below for Eileen’s pricing and how to enter to win a Lash Lift)
-Can still wear mascara/lash strips if you want a more dramatic look
Final words, YES I will be continuing with Lash Lifts and taking a break from extensions. I trust my lashes and all my esthetic needs to Eileen Sculnick who has been practicing esthetics for 25 + years. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, all the featured before and after pictures are Lash Lifts done by Eileen.
