the f-word paradox

For the last few weeks, I have been featuring some items I purchased online from Shein.com. This Shein OOTD will be my last ….well at least for now! Shein is a contemporary women’s fashion retailer that offers “fast fashion” at affordable prices. Today’s top , which is actually referred to as the ” vertical striped layered flounce Bardot dress” is a fun piece for SS17. If you are a trend follower this top/dress has trendy written all over it, it has stripes, off shoulder, ruffle and in the fashionable blue and white colour combination not too bad for $15 US. I ordered this top because of the trendy elements but also felt it would be versatile as well, a key component in my buying decisions. The top is light weight and comfortable, I love the blue and white stripes which can be paired with dark denim as shown or white denim/slacks, shorts, leggings or worn as a dress for those who have great legs which I do not! Once again multiple options for a great price of $15 US. I accessorized this top with a multi-coloured chain link necklace, large brimmed straw hat and a pair of flatforms, along with a pair of raw edged dark denim jeans. I will wear this outfit for brunch, lunch, playing tourist and even a casual evening out. I look forward to styling it in different ways as the colours in this top really work well on my skin tones (I am a “summer” season in the colour analysis lingo)

Final thoughts on Shein.com are positive. I purchased in total $77 US worth of garments which included the shipping  (free over $50 US) and I did not pay any duty. I used Honey which found me a code for $5 US off. This site can be overwhelming so I suggest while shopping you add the items you are interested in into your cart (if you don’t, finding that item later may prove to be difficult). The site encourages you to write reviews and even post pictures which can gain you points towards future purchases. Do not forget to check these comments and most importantly the sizing chart to ensure a fit. I love styling these “trendy” pieces with my investment pieces (leather jackets, footwear, accessories etc) to personalize the look and elevate the look as well.
